The first weekend of Summer means autumn will follow in three months, An annual gathering north of Providence, RI with a group of us sharing swords and other arms for many years now.
http://www.msrgc.com/
Various other activities and vendors will be present. Each year a bit different. A blacksmith is a regular. An occasional drum circle, with Pow Wows going on country wide that weekend. Any interested in attending independently are welcome. Contact the club directly. Any wanting to join our own tables are welcome and just let me know. Set up both days starts at about 7am-8am.
We have been setting up under some pine trees just at the entrance to the compound, near the clubhouse.
A wide assortment of modern made and antique swords. Hawk tossing just next to us. There are usually targets to cut. The club activities work on a ticket basis (food, range, etc) but we don't require tickets for our end. The entrance and attendance is free.
Cheers
Hotspur; more swords and knives this year

Those swords displayed on the rack look magnificent. I wish I could go there and have a look on some of those weapons.

Hi Shahril
The antiques rack is mostly American market with several eagle pommels ranging back to the 1790s.

Still a couple of months out.
Another redone A&A sword adopted by Josh is the bronze fitted Black Prince now in blue. Josh also did a new peen block and polished it quite bright.

Down to a few short weeks until the event. There is no rain date for these and we did one day inside but this year's long range is looking good. Cold nights have already triggered some of the maples to an early start.

Just a few days now. A rare treat about a decade ago was a visit From sir Boas and his collection of Kevin Cashen ("The Professor") swords and a Vince Evans dirk.
While I can't boast the same possibility, I will have a Cashen monosteel bowie there as well as a Vince Evans twisted bowie and older folded lockback.
The weather is looking good for both days.
Cheers

Those Cashen blades are astounding! The Vince Evans dirk really came out well in that second photograph, amazing work.
Nice pics on FB. Looks like a good time. Is there a specific theme to the event?

I have been sharing with the public since 2003 and it is an excellent opportunity to interface with the public. The club itself was formed n 1936 and the Settler's Days event have been going on for decades. There used to be a lot more interest with local militia and pioneer re-enactors, as well as one of the local native American tribes. These past few years have been lean in that regard but there was still a group that set up their old tyme tents and camped through the weekend. The largest local interest seems to be the gun range and associated activities as outlined in the flyer. As far as the swords go, it is both an opportunity to gather others with sword interests and discuss both collecting and history with the public. I would love to see more interest by more vendors and groups but it is a busy weekend across New England. I should do more of the regional shows but life has all to often taken precedent.

Got to love sword No. 4's pattern-welded blade!
