Hi,
First I must apologise for the lack of images. I used to upload images to this forum through Imageshack who have since decided to effectively charge for their service. I ma looking for further information on fringed scabbards being used in the Scottish Highlands. There is plenty of good iconographic evidence from Ireland for fringed scabbards but from Scotland I have only found two possible examples, one being the slightly dubious Sauvage D'Ecosse woodcut.
I am currently designing/thinking a scabbard for my 15th century highland sword and any further information would be very helpful.

Personally I think it may have been common, but then again ring-hilts don't seem to have crossed over.
