Gen2 Dordogne rebuild - far more traditional
Something I do not often do....

This is a Gen2 Dordogne sword, purchased as a "project sword" without scabbard. As usual, I tore it completely down :). Did a blade cleanup, re-polish to matte finish, smoothing of guard & pommel, re-grip (my grip core), removed funny metal accent disks that no one seems to like (see http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=8319), shimmed guard with steel wedges, trued up the pommel fit (drilled a bit "off" by the Gen2 midnight shift), re-peened (cold peen, 1000 taps of death with a simple ball peen hammer followed by dremmel clean up), and finally made a poplar core scabbard for it.

Despite its appearance - this blade is fairly MASSIVE. But it feels very good in hand as a single hander on steroids. There IS enough grip & Pommel to use this blade two handed.

Stats:

OAL: 43 3/4"
Blade: 36 1/4"
Grip & Pommel: 6 7/8"
POB: 6"
Weight: 3.3 Lb

... and photos :).
