I'm sure shipping a boat from Denmark to Seattle would be reasonable....

I'm afraid I'll just have to stick to my 14 foot flat-bottom...........close my eyes and pretend. I'll go on a limb and say the 10 meter job, fully rigged, would be close to $100k . Could buy a lotta swords n stuff for that. Besides, it would just look weird floating on my 3 acre pond. :lol: ........McM

Mark, go ahead and buy it, I live by the St-Laurence River just north of Montreal, and I would offer you free mooring april to november, but would need a hand in dry docking it for the winter months...:)

I've always wanted a Viking longboat. Here's the plan:
1. Find a crew of young Scandinavians (or others of North-European stock, in a pinch) who want to break free from the shackles of materialism, welfare and high-speed internet, and live life as their ancestors did.
2. Train with this band of neo-Vikings in the arts of mead-drinking, rowing, fighting and pillaging.
3. Acquire a longboat. Split between 20 people, the price wouldn't be prohibitive.
4. Set sail from Copenhagen to a river-side (or seaside) city. Maybe Paris, London, Amsterdam or Seattle. Vikings did it, and they didn't even have Google maps.
5. Raid! Pillage! People would be too surprised to fight back ("what, I didn't know there was renfair on!", then "Hey, they've captured our parliament and taken all our monies!")
6. Establish a petty kingdom or Jarldom.
7. Attract to the Viking banners men from all world round.
8. Build more boats. The cycle continues.

Now, who's with me? Shouldn't take more than two or three years, all up, and more exciting than university.

Got a nice email from Frederik about pricing. In addition to the prices mentioned previously in this thread, they do have a lower-cost option in the Trýbekkur:

So, a world cruise culminating with a raid on Ballard sounds like a good option. Plus, Ballard has a large Scandinavian population that would likely welcome liberation from the condo-dwellers and hipsters who have taken over their neighborhood. Ballard also has plenty of places to slake your thirst after a long voyage.

Very nice boats - if my retirement strategy (lotto tickets) works out, I'd love to get one.
