|
|
Hi Ya all,
This is my first time posting on here, but been nosin' around a long time, and I was wondering if there are any examples of Scottish or Irish style hilts on a type xviii sword. I think a hilt similar to the one in the attachment would look really sweet on an xviii sword.
Thanks,
Charles

Looks pretty sweet on the sword in the picture - but of course the blade is hidden in the scabbard..... I agree with you however. I'm not certain of historical accuracy with that combination, but I'm not the right person to speak to that....

Lee, I thought of the Castle Keep Claymore as well when I initially read this post.
Charles, where did the picture you attached come from? A maker's site?

Gregg, the picture is from Christian Fletchers site here http://www.christianfletcher.com/Christian_Fletcher/Welcome.html .
According to what I understand he's more of a 'rehilter' (if that's not a word it should be ) of Albion swords than a sword smith. Does any one know if the medieval scots used any xv or xviii swords at all? It seems that 99% of their swords were fairly wide and had at least one fuller. Thank you all for your help so far.
