Albion Baron
Hi
I need a little help, I am going to write a review on a sword I just recieved a XIIa...I'm not going to compare it to the Baron but as the Baron would be the best XIIa reproduction out there I'd like more details on the specs . I have read the reviews here but I'd like to know a little more i.e. What is the diameter of the pommel also how long is the fuller. How should this sword handle . I know it's says it could be used with one hand but how well, realistically as it is a two hander sword.... Small details like this would be a great help Thank you. ...
Fuller on mine is 25 1/4".

Pommel is not a perfect circle, its ever so slightly out of round. It is 2 1/8" (side to side) by 1 7/8" (top to bottom, not including the peen block)

I think it handles really well but I feel it really is primarily a two-handed weapon. Maybe it could be used from horseback as a top down infantry killer as you ride past using a single-hand as you would not need to worry as much about recovery time perhaps?

On foot with shield, I don't think its a sword you would want to choose.
Thanks Bryan that's good information. So would I be correct to assume this type of sword primarily used by a foot soldier or a secondary back up sword for an unmounted knight...
I actually started a very similar thread asking the same basic question a few months ago. Check it out here. It has a lot of good information regarding how these types of swords may have been used.
