Hey Bill,

That link took me to an article on the September hostage crisis in Beslan :?:
Weird. The article seems to have been moved, and when I did a search, the link in the search also brought me to the hostage page. Strange.

Oh, well, it was a parody article about archeologists finding evidence of a race of skeletal people in Africa (that is, they dug up remains and were using it as proof that skeletons existed and roamed the planet in the past). It was pretty funny.
Here's the current location of the article: http://www.theonion.com/news/index.php?issue=4052&n=1

TheOnion moves its current articles after a week, so your link to the article now referes to the replacement for the current issue.
Thanks, Steve!

I felt the article, while intended for humor, shows the same sorts of things that we often times talk about on this forum of jumping to conclusions based on using too narrow a focus. When you don't look at the whole picture it's easy to come up with an innaccurate conclusion.

It also shows the danger of making your conclusion and trying to force your evidence into that conclusion. Plus it's funny. :)
It's a wonderful jab at the prejudices of archaeologists, who sometimes seem unduly eager to make up just about any old tale to account for the simplest unexplained objects. There seems to be a rule - "When in doubt, assume it has some significance to religious rituals."

I especially like the artwork.
