I must say Eljays work just impress me the more I see it!

The last one (the one in progress, with silver) seems to be a weapon surely fitted for a cheif! I don't see too many basket hilts that "pimped up"!

Cheers,
Henrik

PS. Approx how much does he take for å basket hilt?
Here is my brand new Eljay s-hilt! Just recieved it a week ago. I'll be sending it up to Christian Fletcher to be fitted with an ATrim blade this week.

Congratulations, Allen! I look forward to see this one fitted with a blade. I've allways liked this particular S-hilt...
Very nice grip. I especially like the turks heads.

Cheers, Henrik
Wonderful piece, Allen .... congratulations !
Thank you for e-mailing the pics to me ( I was late getting it in the album, as snowplowing duty called, but its up now)

The original inspiration for this hilt is LA 86, as shown in John Wallace's book "Scottish Swords & Dirks', Plate 19 & 24.

Beautiful job, Eljay, Mac
*Notice how Eljay repeated the 3 line decoration, of the saltire plate, on the pommel ..... very nice touch!

Hi All.

i just thought I would add a few photo's of the dussage. As Mac stated I bought this in 1997 as an antique original. It came with such a unlikely provenance that I thought it had to be true. As I gained experience I became slightly suspicious and posted it on SFI. Eljay was a true gentleman and informed me that it was his work. The dealer has made amends since, but I can't seem to part with this one (Nathan as promised you will be given first chance if I wan't to sell it).
In my opinion Mr Erickson is clearly a scholar, a gentleman, and as can be seen by his work a artist of the first rate.

All the best,
Jeff

Thanks all for sharing these,
same goes for the pics on Vince's work, Mac.
The first picture in the first post Mac,
The bottom sword,do you have any more info on the blade type, very appealing,
Wonderful work throughout,
I think your cunning plan is working,i may have to see about another baskethilt in the next few years,
That Irish basket pic you posted an age ago could be a great addition to a collection

Hi Lee

That S-hilt was up on Ebay, not too long back , (see attached pic ) and I unfortuately did not save any of its listed stats !
It is of diamond section obviously and, judging from the tape measure there, it looks to be about 30 1/2" in length !

Perhaps if Eljay spots this he will enlighten us ! Mac

Cheer's Mac,
The overall view in the first pic makes it appear rather fearsome,i think,
if you get what i mean,
Hi all,
Well, I did spot the last few posts, but I can't provide any enlightenment regarding the blade on the S-hilt, as the blade was provided and installed by someone else!

Mr. Erickson would you be interested in making a mortuary hilt with details of your own choosing?
Hi Adam,
I'd love to do a Mort; they're one of my favorite hilt types. PM me and we'll hammer out the details.
