viking splinted armor
I wanted to do an viking and I stumbled across this interesting suit found in Scandinavia, any thoughts?
The only evidence for Scandinavian armour attributed to the Viking period is mail. No splints, no lamellar. The Birka armour is khazar.
Hello everyone,

I think this is my first posting. I've been a long time lurker, normally directed here from the armour archive or roman army talk.

Dan that is really interesting. I assume you're talking about the Birka lamellar being khazar but has there been any new thoughts on the splints from Valsgarde burial 8? Or are we only discussing Viking era? I used them as inspiration for my migration period kit but to be honest, I found that the original dimensions weren't even close to what I'd expect for the human forearm.
