14th century hourglass gauntlets
I commissioned Jeffrey Hildebrandt at Royal Oak Armoury to make me a pair of 14th century hourglass gauntlets which arrived today. I thought it would be nice to share some pics with you. The main goal of the project was to be true to history without being carbon-copies of historical pieces. My harness is somewhat austere for the late 14th century and I wanted the gauntlets to match that asthetic so while there are custom gadlings, there is no brasswork.

I hope this forum is the right place for this post. Without further ado, here are the pics:

One piece raised metacarpal and cuff

Custom gadlings and knuckles

Separate leather cuff and glove for easy replacement.

Flush riveted closed wrist and historical cuff rivet arrangement.

You can just see the knuckle lame at the base of the fingers.

Man, I am so jealous of you for having that beautiful piece of work.
We think eerily alike. I have a pair I commisioned from Jiri Klepac which look very similar to those. Congrats on the great gauntlets.
