According to Stephen Fliegel in Arms and Armor the original four equestrian armours in the Cleveland Museum of Art were deaccessioned in 1960 as spurious, based on the advice of Stephen Grancsay. Three of these had been provided by Bashford Dean in 1916. I'd like to see photos of these items, which may well be in the catalog of the Severance Collection published around 1925. Can anyone help. I'd like to buy the catalog, too. While we're at it, does anyone have information on how French & Company in New York disposed of the lots after acquiring them from the museum in 1960? Thanks!
