Saber ID
I inherited this from my grandfather, who allegedly brought it back from Germany after WW2.

Is there anything engraved on the blade - writing or proofmark?
It is a French Model 1837 Naval Officer's Sword, made in Klingenthal.
thanks very much, Mr. Hopkins

it does appear to be a very crude version.
Yours is a later version with a later blade type. I am not sure I would call it crude, but perhaps not as well done as the one on Jean Binck's site.
