Two more/new sword books from Europe
I'm pleased to announce that the Peregrinus Publishing website www.peregrinuspublishing.com has been updated, with two new books and additional information about a third.

The two newly in-stock titles are "L'Épée," the beautiful catalog from a multi-collection exhibit of swords in Paris a couple of years ago, and "Schwert und Spiess," an inexpensive survey of the edged weapons at the Steirmärkisches Landeszeughaus (Styrian Armory) in Graz, Austria.

Please note that "L'Épée" is *entirely in French* but in cooperation with Fabrice Cognot, one of the book's authors, Peregrinus has produced an English translation of all of the captions for the 100-plus photos and other illustrations, and it's free for the downloading.

"Schwert und Spiess" is an enjoyable, highly illustrated overview of just the edged weapons at the Arsenal in Graz, which is reputedly the world's largest collection of historical arms and armor. All text is in English and German.

In addition, we still have a few copies of "Mediaeval Swords from Southeastern Europe" remaining in stock, and several new downloadable PDFs let you take a good look inside this unique volume.

Yes it is. It has only 66 pages but it is full of pictures. I have bought mine alongside with "Harnisch und Helm" and "Gewehr und Pistole" when I was last time at the Landeszeughaus. Which I have were just sold for 1 or 1.50 EUR because they have a printing failure, but these failures are only some scratches on the cover, almost invisible. I felt myself really lucky to get them so cheap :).
I can second everything said above - both books are excellent and good value with lots of superb photos. And the captions in 'L'Epee' are not difficult to follow, even with only a limited amount of sword vocabulary in French. Go and buy!
And make an effort to visit the Arsenal if you are ever anywhere near Graz in southern Austria.

I have the Schwert und Spiess and can't recommend it enough. It's bilingual (ger/eng), and it is one of the rare books on swords which lists all the basic data (length, blade length, PoB, weight), and more. So far, best book on swords I've gotten my hands on.
I just want to acknowledge that I've been slow to reply to some folks who've requested postage quotes or other information.
This past week I've been really slammed by work and also fighting off some kind of stomach bug.
I hope to start catching up this weekend.
Meantime, I appreciate everyone's patience.
Do both "L'Épée" & "Schwert und Spiess" contain stats / specs for all the swords (overall length, blade length, weight etc)?

Do both books only show swords or other weapons as well?

Thanks

Danny
Does anyone know if Scott / Peregrinus Publishing is still active and operating?

I have emailed Scott twice over the last 5 to 6 weeks on info@wmaillustrated.com enquiring about placing an order yet I haven't received a response.

Thanks

Danny
I tried emailing a while ago about buying a couple of copies of" Swords in Southeastern Europe", I got one response that he had a few in stock then no response to further emails re ordering and payment. I still want to purchase a copy (or 2) .Does anyone know if these are available elsewhere possibly Europe,(in English)?

Ron,

The only place I know to get a copy is: http://www.knjizara.com/knjige/knjiga/121078_...rope_ISBN:. I was sent this address directly by Marko Aleksic himself, about a year ago, so it is legitimate. I ordered my copy from there and it arrived in the UK without problem but the site is in Serbian (the book's text is, essentially, in English however). Marko was kind enough to include a guide for using the site to order, so please p.m. me if you would like a copy of his tips.

By the way, the book is worth every penny!

Neil.
Hi,

Anyone know if Scott Baltic or Peregrinus Publishing are still around? I'd like to order some books. I've emailed the webpage and also pm'd Baltic with no response.
