What 3D software to learn to make cnc swords
Pardon me for my ignorance of the subject. i would like to know what would be the best 3d modeling software that should be learnt to build swords with cnc.
Solidworks is the best program for CAD. it can be found on "certain websites" that are swashbuckling related for "less" than the list price.

it is what I use in my engineering program and allows you to make editable, dimensioned parts.

for generating millpaths, you can use either solidcam, an add on to solidworks, or Mastercam- a standalone program that also does 3D modeling, but is much clunkier for designing parts and they are not dimensioned like the solids in a .sldwrks part

if you haven't already checked it out, all this interest in CAD and 3D printing has gotten the gear running again on the front of designing wonderful pointy medieval things. Examples of what can be accomplished with relative ease in Solidworks can be found in http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=28232

>and i kinda really want to build that sword i designed, or a later, more refined iteration
how many hanwei tinker longsword blades do i need now... think it's gone up to two now for these damnable projects. a machinists work is never done :\
