Not to take anything away from Peter Lyon's fine work, but he didn't "create" the LOTR swords. He mande them but John Howe and the people at WETA were responsible for the designs. I just thought I'd point that out.

It's just like Jody Sampson always being labelled as the creator of the Conan swords. He made them but he didn't design them either.

Alex, Kevin Cashen gave me this tidbit for getting gold paint in the incised runes. He used this method on the runes in my Anduril: "just about any good acrylic paint will work. What I do is clean the area real well and then rub the paint on with a paper towel and continue to rub until all the paint is off the blade surface yet remains in the lettering." It looks nice and if you need to touch it up it's really easy. I suppose some gold leaf from HObby Lobby would work also but I am not sure how durable that would be either. Nice work and good luck.

interesting.. acrylic paint. Thanks. That's probably the same stuff as in gold nail polish because they use acrylic in that too.

Alex,
You could put the Star of the House of Feanor in that middle space. Or make up something in that style. I made a similar star design to put on a shield once and was very happy with how it looked.
Or perhaps something treeish and Celtic looking?
