Is there anyone who knows of studies of how to use shields from this timeframe. I am thinking of active use and not only as a defensive objekt or a piese of "armour".

Hi Martin,
I haven't read it myself, but Stephen Hand and Paul Wagner have written a quite widely acclaimed article on early shield use for SPADA. The book is available from Chivalry Bookshelf, along with the soon-to-be-published SPADA Vol. 2, which will contain another article on the subject as well.

Spada II is already out as I have MY copy and I got Spada I at the same time: The shield articles are very good as well as other articles including one on the use of the Partisan.
There is also an update on sword and buckler techniques.
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!
