In my case when I sent in my Brescia Spadona for repair, Mike did indeed said it would be repaired "like new" and would be hard to notice the difference. When it came back, it was not the case to me. I knew they did the best they can since it's all about removal of material but the issue was "expectation management" mentioned here. So I was disappointed.
I think we as sword collector or what, have keener eyes than normal people to the details. Normal people may be hard to notice the difference, perhaps.

I think when they say "hard to notice", they mean if someone is swinging it at your head...
