Hello Forumites!
I'm looking for information regarding early (10th century) Rus style helmets; what should I look for and is there anywhere I get one for a budget of around £150-£200?
Thanks for the help in advance,
Nick

http://annales.info/rus/weapon/helmets.htm

First two images from the page would be originals that are identified as belonging to the 10th century. Basically, they are more or less conical helmets, constructed of several parts riveted together, and many are richly decorated - small wonder, since they are from supposedly princley burials.

Grzegorz Kulig (Thorkil) from Poland has some extremely fine replicas of the helmets (or similar) recommended by Artis

or http://www.thorkil.pl/giecz_eng.htm and http://www.thorkil.pl/giecz2_eng.htm (these are from Giecz, Poland, similar to Chernaya Migilla)

I'm just not sure if they fitted in your prize limits.

Grzegorz is certainly one of the finest helmet makers today, especially, considering earlier period helms - but I doubt the will work on that sort of budget Wink

Thanks for the info guys.
I've found a place which seems to do what I want for the right price but was wondering if anyone has any experience with dealing with them.
The site is www.czcibor.com and was recommended by another reenactor,
Nick
