Antiquing scores me a new display case !
Last Sunday the wife and I went off exploring the back roads & routes of the West Swanzey area of New Hampshire, and upon entering a place called Secords Antique Center, on Rt. 10, I did spy a most wonderful counter display case that would be perfect for me Scottish basket-hilted claymores !

It reminds me of one of those old bakery cases that you'd pick a nice desert out of, with the shop keeper opening the rear door, pointing, and saying "this one here, Ms. Bea" !

Anyways, it's a perfect sword-sized case, glass all around, and something that enables the viewer a good close look at what's inside as the front glass angles away from you ! Plus it has that nice old look to it, and will be so simple to display things since all you gotta do is lay them (swords) in there ! ( the wood shelf is totally adjustable, too )

The little metal tag on the front says it was made by the Sun Mfg Co., Columbus, Ohio.

Here's some pic's that will give you an idea of what I got .....
I'll take some more shots once I get it situated & figure out which pieces will be the proper window dressing that salivates the senses ;-)

Another great feature to this case is the fact that it has 3 doors that slide open , 18x 20" inches each.
Many cases like this, I hear ,do not have that middle door,or so I was informed, so that will help make it easy to get at things when moving things around, etc!

Some quick stats .....

Inside measurements: 53 3/4"long x 21 1/2" deep x 21 1/2" tall. Top is 10" wide. Shelf is 53 1/2" long x 9 3/4" wide.

Outside measurements: 59 1/2" long (bottom) 56 1/2" (top) x 25 7/8" wide x 23 1/8" tall. 3 doors 18"x20" .

Oh yes, the bottomline ...... I paid $325.00 for it .... and I think it's worth every penny !

See guys, shopping with the wife ain't so bad ;-) Mac
Good useful find, and very cheap compared to what that would bring in Calif.!

Looks like a good find.
Excellent score Mac! That's perfect!
Great find at a great price!

looks like you could even squeeze in an extra smaller shelf for dirks! ;)
Thanks, guys !

Doing a search to try and find out about who the Sun Mfg Co. was, and when they operated, I stumbled upon a few items that are being sold via GoAntiques ! One was a coffee grinder, c. 1920's ?, by Sun, and the other is a very similar case to mine, only smaller and with a two door setup ! They are asking $550.00 for it, and request that it be picked up !

If anyone knows, or can find out, who the Sun Mfg Co.,Columbus,Ohio was, and the years they were in business, I'd appreciate the information !
