I need your help.
I am looking for helmets like this one on the photo below.
It is a sallet from late 15th century. It has earholes which are the most important to me.
I hope some of you would know examples from Germany, Austria, Scandinavia or nearest neighbourhood.

Perhaps Spain is too far away...but I know that we have at least two of them in the Alava Armoury Museum...

However, Spain, Italy etc are to far from areas I'm interested in.

I think it could be a sallet with drilled holes instead of big earholes itself.

The one in the catalogue it's very much like the one you posted, but with a smaller ridge, and no "nasal".

The two helmets that are believed to be related to Boabdil, the las Nasrid king of Granada (perhaps thats too exotic...) have both covered earholes, the one in the Armería Real de Madrid and the one at the MET.

All the helmets have what seems a rectangular earhole...

Earholes? More like spearholes if you ask me.

Jokes aside: Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I'm a bit curiuous about this detail, as a fellow who has never worn a sallet - how compromised is your hearing ability when wearing one without ear holes? Could the earholes be justified in aiding situational awareness?

You know, first thing I thought when I saw that picture... is a Barbute with the bottom cut off... Are you sure this is not a modefied Barbute?

The sallet-inspired M1918 stahlhelm is known for both impairing hearing from the side and introducing echo from the front.
