These are great, can't thank you enough for posting them, they are some of the best pictures I have seen, especially of the ring-hilts. Any more per chance? And the sheath with the intertwined pattern I believe that is the kilcumber scian sheath, am I correct?

I am not a forensics expert, but I do have some medical knowledge and I've read "Blood Red Roses." It appears to me that the skull was that of a young person (most likely male) because the wiggly lines of the skull weren't completely fused yet. It seems very sad to have been killed so young.

Regardless of age, it's terrible to have the front quarter of your head sliced off. Perhaps this person was of a lower class because surely someone of a higher rank would have worn a helmet. I can't imagine how much power it took to do that to a skull. There's more to it than having a sharp blade.

Such injuries seem extremely gruesome to us today, but I can't help wondering if such things were more easily accepted back then because it was so common. After all, they didn't have the option to shoot someone with a rifle from a distance. Up close and personal combat is what one expected back then.

Nevertheless, I can only imagine the depths of P.T.S.D. folks must have had.

thank you Chad for help. i know these topics and it's why i'm asking about pictures on the museum pictures topic. i'd like to see more good pictures of original swords. Sean has given us good collection of photos from museum where i have found some nice pictures of ring pommel swords - i just want more like these.
