Hi,

I'm looking for some info on how maces changed and evolved through the medieval period. It just struck me (pun not intended!) that while I know about the small, cast 12c mace-heads, and that later maces are commonly seen with flanges - getting more elaborate as the years pass, I realised that I have absolutely no idea when flanged maces appeared and what other types existed, nor when steel hafts appeared (or are they something you only see in reproductions?)

My chief area of interest is 12-14c - but still interested to hear anything outside of that.
