Actually if the fire burns away the zombies' tendons and muscles then they won't be much a threat.
Right, but before that you have quite awhile of a animated fireball that is actively trying to home in on your and eat your brains. Plus any flammable structures he comes in contact with, up to and including your boarded up windows, will also likely catch fire.

Just all around bad scene... Not good

But you are over-looking an important fact: Sometimes comedy is its own reward.
i wonder if zombie flesh becomes edible when cooked..

what... food will become scarce in the zombie apocalypse

also i just realized another scary possibility if things turn out like resident evil... then we have to conend with not just humans bu also infected wildlife and in the residen evil movis animals sem to retain their normal speeds.. which is bad if say, our set upon by zombified crows..
I know that the trench spikes are brought up in zombie discussions a lot however originals in good condition are hard to come by and are expensive (at least 400 U.S. dollars). Isn't a rondel dagger similar in that it has more or less a spike instead of a blade and quality remakes are easily obtainable.

max brooks makes the claim these trench spikes were designed to pierce steel helmets of ww1 i cant help but think thats completely wrong

http://thedonovan.com/archives/2006/06/the_wh...erday.html oh and in the case of tench weapons..

trench mace, its just a gear on a stick. yet it quite scaril resembles inca maces http://www.worldmuseumofman.org/display.php?item=693 although the latter were made of stone mostly although the incas did have som limited copper technology.

Oh he is most definitely wrong. Such weapons could hardly pierce medieval iron helmets, let alone helmets made of modern steel.
Back-Up Weapon for the Zombie Apocalypse
This sometimes sounds wacky to me but may I recommend...

A Russian-made S.K.S. carbine. Zombies will die instantly when its bullets penetrate their heads

A Type 19 Company Grade Japanese Cavalry Sword. A zombie would not die if its belly had been slashed but it will if its neck slashed

I like the 'essential' bottle opener on the shovel blade, so you can pop the lid on a beer after decapitating your zombies......practicool!

i hink i can speak for everyone here when i say OUCH.

except i hink he shovel blade should be lik on older E tool wih an angular, pointed tip, a anguler edged shovel helps dig and penetrate harder ground easier, and if sharpened makes a much nastier weapon.
houseboat with high pressure water pumps
Zombies don't like water, so the base of operation would have to be on water, a souped-up houseboat, and when you need to dock for some reason high pressure water cannon should do the trick, watch the loose dead articulations fly all over the place, and it's ecologically friendly too ! BUT, for the plan to work, you've got to love eating seafood, those with seafood allergies best not apply.
