Up for sale is this complete English 1796 pattern infantry officer's hilt. Some wear, but there's traces of gilt in all the corners. The grip is original, and still has a couple of silver wire stubs that stick out where grip enters the ferrule.

How did I get a loose hilt you ask? I purchased this as a composite sword some time ago: the blade was much earlier than the hilt, and bore signs of epoxy fill to tighten things up, the tang was freshly peened, etc... so it wasn't an old family blade mounted in the period of use. I kept the blade, and intended to find a suitable 1796 blade to mount in the hilt, but I have enough projects already, and thought that someone else might have a use for this.
