Introduction - New member
Hello,

I just joined this site and I already think that I will be a regular. I thought that I would like to introduce myself and describe some of my likes and interests

I have always been interested in history (and flirted with the idea of a career in Archaeology back in high school). Primary areas of historical interests are Ancient Greece, Republic Rome, Anglo-Saxon England, and the Viking age.

I have a strong interest in black smithing, which includes armour and sword making,. I also like traditional boat making with a strong interest with designs from the dark ages to the golden age of sail.

Career wise... I am a lean manufacturing specialist in the automotive industry. I have spent time machining parts and in the engineering department designing processes and at times, components.

I joined this site to share some of my knowledge and learn from the other members. I am also interested in setting up a forge and try my hand at arms and chain-mail making.

I look forward to going through through the forums and learning from the more experienced members.
Welcome to the site Jeffrey!
Welcome to the forum. :)
Hello Jeffrey:

Welcome.

I'm fairly new as well and have found this site to be my go to place for solid, researched information, and practical experience. The folks here are more than glad to share their opinions. The number of actual makers that contribute also says a lot about myArmoury.

Regards, Jon
hey there, i'm stuck in manufacturing too, but part of the diesel industry.

i've lurked on myArmoury for years before i started posting. this place has so many members that can guide you in your historical research. no matter what your looking into - your probably going to find someone here that's got a common interest and can help in research.

i've been slowly putting together a smithy myself - it's been taking years to do because i'm trying to make sure that everything i put together is safe - that being said, for anyone wanting to attempt black smithing even if it's just to cold work metal i recommend to take a look at anvilfire.com.
Nice to have you Jeffrey,

I will be especially interested in reading any posts about ancient boat construction and usage as I have nearly zero knowledge in this area.
Also a warm welcome to the site and I hope you participate in any or all discussions where you have knowledge, opinions or questions. Even speculation or educated guessing can lead to good discussions. :D
