I'm looking for information on a Buff coat and/or Dutch cloak that I saws a picture of. It's in a museum in Glasgow, and I have not been able to come up with anything. Anyone know of it? I have emailed the Glasgow Musuem trust, and not heard anything back.

Thanks!

Hello Damon
You might be referring to a buff coat that is also shown in the book "The Real Fighting Stuff" by Tobias Capwell.
It is believed to be Dutch but it is not known for certain; it is certainly a fine piece however with silk ties on the front.
What is known is that there is an indentation on the left front skirt caused by a pistol ball.
There are other stanis that may be blood; agani not known for sure.
Hope this may of some use to you.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself
