I'm looking for information on a Buff coat and/or Dutch cloak that I saws a picture of. It's in a museum in Glasgow, and I have not been able to come up with anything. Anyone know of it? I have emailed the Glasgow Musuem trust, and not heard anything back.
Hello Damon
You might be referring to a buff coat that is also shown in the book "The Real Fighting Stuff" by Tobias Capwell.
It is believed to be Dutch but it is not known for certain; it is certainly a fine piece however with silk ties on the front.
What is known is that there is an indentation on the left front skirt caused by a pistol ball.
There are other stanis that may be blood; agani not known for sure.
Hope this may of some use to you.It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself
