This beautiful sword is from the late 15th-early/mid 16th century japan. Blade is in excellent condition with some mild spider web blemishes in places. Blade length is 25" and has undoubtedly been cut down to meet military regulations. It is easy to tell this was a much longer sword. The hamone is very strait, but still apparent. The kassaki (point) is fantastic and graceful at 13/4" long. Entire blade is 25" and overall length is 35 3/4".
No signature on the tang. Fushi and kashira are silver with skull and bone motif. Menuki are black dragon and the tsuba is a darkened bronze with a dragon motif. Overall an exceptionally beautiful and uncommon item. $1200 asking price.
