While looking through MDLongs site i found this sabre,

41 INCHES OVERALL LENGTH, ALL STEEL HILT WITH 'D' SHAPE KNUCKLE-BOW AND CHISELLED SHELL GUARDS. 35 INCH FULLERED BLADE, WIRE BOUND GRIP WITH TURKS HEADS AND LARGE ROUND POMMEL. OVERALL PITTING TO THE METAL WORK

From first impressions it seemed more reminiscent of a cutlass,but obviously not as it is too long in the blade,imo.
Has anyone seen or can point to references for a similer sword,
I havent seen many shell guards of this form on true sabres so this peeked my interest,
Hopefully one of you chaps may be able to shed some light,

I have seen shells on plenty of cut steel swords and the like ,but just havent seen many on blades like this,
