Any Thoughts On How This Makeshift Weapon Was Assembled?
This image is from Paul Dolnstein's sketchbook. My question is about the figure on the left. How might the weapon in his hands have been made?

He is a Swedish peasant fighting in 1502 in a rebellion against Danish rule. Many other peasants in this rebellion also carried a sort of pike made from a shorter sword affixed to a staff. There is no evidence of the kind of pin system that held a halberd head to the staff.
