16th century portuguese swivel gun found in darwin, australi
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8400891/d...te-history

essentially from the title of the thread a couple of boys found, last january, a portuguese swivel gun on the beach in darwin, and its possible proof of portuguese contact with ausralia long before the dutch came in the 1600's
but thats up for debate.
From the description it sounds as if it is a Falcon or a Falconet. Both were small bronze swivel guns of about 1 inch caliber.
