But seriously, a spiky mace like the A&A version seems to me a Knightly high end version of the peasant's heavy club with spikes nailed into it.

These kinds of spikes maces seem to also have been popular in Persia and India but also used in Europe, but the flanged maces being more commonly in use ..... maybe ?

By the way, I really like mine and it could really ruin someone's day, even if well armoured, and a raking hit where just the spike tips of the mace hit a softer target would almost be like being raked by the claws of a grizzly bear, even if the main mass of the ball of the mace falls short of the target: Top spike + the smaller spike would equal a serious mauling I think.

knobs are rounded and blunt. I think morning star could describe any weapon that has ray like protrusions.
