Last weekend"s Axe making class
Hello all , I have just finished teaching an axe making class .....
it went well.
we made a total of 10.5 axe heads (nine finished axes I managed 1 and a half heads only.), most students going away with a forge welded bow tie construction axe and a punched and drifted axe , one student only came for 2 days and made a big forge welded axe.

I pre drilled 1lb blocks of en9 (1050) let the bashing commence......

That is too cool! And look at the smiles in the final pic. Those are some happy dudes! ^u^ Who wouldn't be after that though?
Fine ! You did not say anything about heat treatments, but I suppose you had them done...
All the axes were triple normalised, then differentially hardened and tempered .
I cycled them through the ovens and the students hardened them.
