the main change here is the shape of the guard. when I talked to Gus about the first one I told him I would like the guard to remain small but that I would like to see some of the sword's Chinese heritage coming through. I didn't want a piece of Chinese furniture but rather something modern that still had just a little bit of the old Chinese jian/dao flavoring in it. personally I think he nailed it.
I finished the mechanical peen differently on this one as well. I made it a ridge blended in with the rest of the pommel that slightly changes the overall shape of the pommel. one of the reasons I did this was so it could be directly compared to the hot-peened pommel I recently did on another sword.
