Reconstructing a late 14th c. helmet crest--advice asked
I'm building a set of late 14th c. armour for a tournament in Europe. I'd like advice on putting decoration on a bassinet. Can someone point me in the direction of some original illustrations of decorated bassinets?

were feathers ever used?
Mantles?
caps?
hoods?

or should I just leave it plain?
A few ideas here http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=24173
Right--so I'm not imagining it--there really isn't a lot of appropriate decoration for the bassinet.
These are early 15thc. Débarquement de Scipion l'Africain en Afrique http://manuscriptminiatures.com/ab-urbe-condi...-261/2663/ Bataille d'Herdonée http://manuscriptminiatures.com/ab-urbe-condi...-261/2661/ I believe these are depicting ancient scenes so they could be fantasy, don't know.
Thanks! I can't help but notice that the crests seem to distinguish the major character, rather than being "common." But at least there's some imagery. Thanks again!
