only one leg armour
I looking for images with single leg armor of the fifteenth-sixteenth century.
Please help
La battaglia di San Romano di Paolo Uccello

I think the soldier with the shield has only one leg protected by armour.
thank you / dziękuję :)
I find this painting super interesting. Not only does this guy seem to have armor on only one leg, but he also has a greave that doesn't cover the back of the leg (was it called shinbald? Don't remember, but there was a special name for this type of armor). Also this guy's armor is somewhat darker that knights' armor (there is also one knight in the background, only helmet visible, whose armor is darker than that of warriors next to him). Maybe it was just painted so, but it may also indicate blackened armor.
Huge thanks (wielkie dzieki) Michal :D especially I was looking something about foot soldier in italian style using leg armour with only front of graves.

Cheers,
Mike form Poland

Hi,

Check that Russian site. There are eighteen pages of pictures with the Italian infantrymen of 15 century.

Here, in post #70, you can see the high resolution fragment of the Paolo Ucelo “Battle of San Romano” and the Garry Embleton reconstruction after that painting.

Here, in post #259, you will find at least four sources on the leg armor protecting only the frontal part of the legs.

Enjoy. Sincerely,

спасибо :)
In Poland we have documents from the fifteenth century. Many soldiers wore one "schynka". This word is meant to leg armor. So I'm looking for images :)
Oleg, thank you very much :)

Cheers,
Mike from Poland
