viking axe
Hand forged from en9 steel this is a lite and manouverable viking axe , long handled, relativly lite axes such as this are a revelation to use, not brutish at all.

Dimensions

The edge is 7.5"
from poll to edge just over 9″
weighes in at 1lb 14 3/4 oz or 870 grammes

It is differentially hardened and double tempered……..this axe is razor sharp in a robust way , Ie it has a convex edge grind down to a sharp hair popping edge.

Price £200 for the head and £280 with the 56 inch hand draw filed ash haft...
Ill have to look into prices for posting .......

Really attractive work. :D
Hi Owen
missed you at Fightcamp this year, but looks like you have been busy.
If this is still available I'll take it with the haft fitted. PM me here to work out the details
Phil
Philip, you have a PM.
all the best Owen
Hi Owen!

That is a really nice axe and it suits you very well :)

We have done some testcutting with similar axes and even though they are not brutish they can do a looooot of damage and at the same time be really fast. Nasty weapon.

A friend of mine almost split a pig head in two with a nice controlled blow without to much power.

I am feeling lucky that I am living in a age where the chances for meeting one of those are slim :P

That is an excellent axe. I may need to commission a single-handed axe similar to that...some day.
Thats an intimidating axe, Owen. Though not quite as that scary as that look in your eyes. :surprised:
This axe is now sold.

thanks for the replys , I have had fun trying out different sizes of these axes..the heavier they get the stronger the blow , but they lose the flexability of a lighter axe.
I would imagine martial training would allow one to be faster and more fluid with a slightly heavier axe.
I feel natural with a head of around 2lb or less.....
I don't know how I missed this post initially. That's one beautifully clean and imposing axe. I can see the villagers running for cover if you were wearing a hauberk in that photograph! ;)
so just to be clear. the HEAD is what weighs 870grams? not the whole ensamble?
