I help people identify military antiques from the 20th century, but I mainly work on guns, not swords. I've been trying to help someone who inherited a family weapon and was recommended here by another forum as a place where I might receive help. I am looking to both accurately ID the sword as well as price it for insurance reasons. The sword is about 36" in length and the handle os made of some kind of wood in the grip.

So far it has been proposed that it is a Prussian Model 1872 Uhlan Saber made in 1874 and assigned to the 10th Reserve Artillery, 5th company, 83rd troop.

Here are what photos I have.

It looks more like a 19th-century Austrian infantry officers' sword to me.
