New myArmoury Contest: It's your choice!
Hey guys, heard of EdgeFair.com? No? I guess I haven't been doing my job (Marketing Director....) very well! Basically, EdgeFair is CAS Hanwei, direct to the public. We have some exclusive items from Hanwei and GDFB, run specials daily and send out a newsletter on occasion with coupons and stuff. On to the contest...

So I wanted to send some items over to Nathan for the next myArmoury.com contest and had, well, a hard time choosing. So we decided to turn it over to you fine folks to decide!

Simply vote for the item you would like to see in the next contest, we'll tally them up and send the top TWO items to Nathan for the next myArmoury contest. Polling stops on Sep 22nd, get your entries in and let us know why you picked what you did.

Here are the contenders:

Hard to choose, I like the damascus blade but the axe is beautiful as well..
The tinker GSOW is very nice as well, but I think it would've looked better with a little bit darker red.
Ah well, every item there is of good quality so I'd be happy with any of them.
I voted for the Marshal, but the Tinker GSOW is also very nice. But from all these, I find the Marshal the most aesthetically pleasing.
Normally I'd say the GSOW but that Irish sword just looks so nice.
How fun! I voted for the Tinker Great Sword of War as it's just begging me to cut with it. :)
Oh, thanks for your generosity in wanting to offer a prize for " myArmoury " to give out at some time in the future. :D

I picked the Irish Viking mostly because it is something I might like to win and don't have a similar sword, but it was a hard choice between it and the two Tinker designed swords the GSOW and the Norman sword.
poll
Thanks ever so much for offering so many great prizes For me its the Irish Viking sword first
Then the tinker great war sword . Both are on my wish list for christmas. The irish viking would be a great addition to my collection
Charlemagne saber!! Just because I like sabers and I think this one is particularly interesting.
I voted for the Tinker Norman. It was actually my second choice, but it seems that the Tinker Great Sword of War is getting plenty of votes and you did say the top TWO. :D
Re: poll
I have to say the new irish sword is especially nice. It gets my vote as I owned a Normand sword in the past, which I found to be of exceptionnal value.

Good to see Hanwei getting in touch with its customer base :)

Julien
I voted for a damascus Marshall because I would love to get it customized. More unusual hilt, etched blade to show pattern through the whole width of the blade, slightly softened ridges beside the fuller. It could be made into a sword even more beautiful than now.
Does anybody else have any feedback on this?
I already voted, but I just thought I'd say that I find these results rather interesting. It's pretty clear the majority of the folks on here are voting based on a variety of different reasons and not just going "Oh, this is more expensive than that, so that's the one I want!"

Perhaps we should elaborate on why we chose what we did, to give Mr. Pogue and Hanwei a little bit of marketing info as pertaining to what the people on these forums prefer?

I hope this doesn't come across as offensive, but I chose what I did because I personally expect Tinker designed swords to be superior to Hanwei's other offerings, even though they are not the most expensive or fancy pieces in this line-up.

Don't get me wrong, I own several non-Tinker Hanwei swords and have my eye on a few pieces for future purchase. I just think that Tinker's work performs better and is more historical.

Mr. Pogue, I think that will be the main viewpoint you'd find here, a preference for more historical and better handling pieces, particularly those of European design.

At this point you're probably thinking Yes, I know that already, why do you think I'm offering a selection of European pieces and not a bunch of katanas? ;) Sorry if it seems like I am talking down to you, but since I don't know how well you actually know these forums, I decided to say this as if you were new to the site.
**A little post-coffee edit.**

I happen to think the Irish Viking sword is a wonderful looking piece and wouldn't mind buying one let alone winning one for free. Hell I'll take any one of those swords for free. I think that Hanwei has been doing a great job responding to their customers and from what I see their getting very close to hitting the nail on the head, especially at their price point. Thanks to Hanwei and Nathan for giving us the chance to win one of these fine swords. Wether it's the Tinker Norman, The Irish Viking, or the GSOW how can you go wrong?

I just want the GSOW bits!
You have to love a great sword of war, and the great bascinet would be second.
I voted for the irish sword, it has an overall simple aesthetic that i find very pleasing to the eye. The scramasax just looks wrong to me, specifically the grip and pommel. I feel that Hanwei could and should offer a more utilitarian and traditional sax.
I voted for the Mammen Axe. First of all since the original was found only 30 km from where I live and second because I have a general interest in the viking age (being danish after all).

The Hanwei Tinker Great Sword was actually my second choice. I own the H/T viking sword and it is surely a lot of "bang for the buck" :)
The marshal damascus, because I keep almost purchasing it, but something always comes up to prevent it
And we have a winner! (err two!)

Thanks for the feedback gents, it's been enlightening.

We'll be sending the first two in the list (did that have anything to do with it? I wonder...) the Tinker Great Sword of War and Irish Viking Sword to Nathan.
