Painting of Bob Burns
Bob asked me to post this for him as he doesn't have the software to make the image easy to view here. ( resize )

The pic is a painting of Bob Burns by his cousin Jim Conahan who is also a member of myArmoury.

There is a little lost of resolution compared to the original file.

Congratulations Jim, you are really a fine artist !

You look impressive Bob ! :D
Thats pretty cool, Bob makes an imposing lord :) I hope there are kids because that is the sort of thing that makes a great heirloom.
Nice work at that.
Hah, that's great! Watercolor? Was the inking done first?
Hi Jean, thank you so much for posting this for me! Thank you everyone for your most kind comments :!:

My cousin has had several pieces of art go on museum tours. We live 16 miles apart and have always been very close in friendship!

I cannot draw worth a diddly, tried to learn guitar and sounded like a chimpanzee on crack and I sing like a buffalo with his privvies caught in a thorn bush :!:

I have a copy of this on museum paper and on mine at the bottom in beautiful black lettering
it says: Sir Robert Burns

Going to be framed real soon and hung on livingroom wall for my wife Gayle to see everyday!

That's my beloved "Highland Claymore" from Arms & Armor.

Thanks So Much Everyone!

Bob
Thank you everyone for your kind compliments of the painting I did. This is my first post in the forums. I just joined myArmoury in December and I am very glad to be a member of this wonderful website!
Hah , that's great! Watercolor? Was the inking done first? Hi Gabriel, yes the ink drawing was done first and this is a watercolor painting

Thanks very much everyone for your very nice comments!
I'm late in coming to this party (as is typical for me - I don't get to the forums as often as I'd like), but wanted to chime in: Mr. Conahan, you do beautiful work! To my eye, it has a very Norman Rockwell-like quality to it.

Mr. Burns, you have a fantastic heirloom there! I'm absolutely green with envy.

I would love to have a painting done of my daughters, but my current finances will not allow anything beyond the bills.

Thank you for posting this.
It is a very good painting.I have no idea about techniques and styles but this one really fits my taste :)
I have a stepson (Josh) who will be 27 this month, married, one daughter and twins to be born by early June, he will inherit my collection and library of books and dvds. I also have a stepdaughter (Kate) who has been dating a man named Ben since he was in West Point and now is a 1st Lt in the U.S. Army, she will be 24 in December. One of them will get this painting.
I can remember Jim's art all the way back when I was 3 or 4 years old and he was 18 or 19, my dad's nephew. I was awed by his talent way back then and ever since! Astounding paintings one after the next I've seen for 46 years now since age 3, Rockwell is one of his favorite artists as I recall.

I sure would like to have a throne like that! But I don't think my wife would stand for it!

I was blown away when I saw this painting, especially with it saying in fancy black lettering on the bottom:
Sir Robert Burns Kinda made my head swell a tad. LOL!

I swear from what I've seen over the years, his talent is without limit :!:

Oh how I wish I had artistic talent!

Bob

Thank you so very much once again for all the nice comments!

That is truely a beautiful work of art to pass down through the family. I hope to have something similar done of me in the future. I just have to find the person around here to do it for me!

Mike
I know first hand Michael, that Jim can do it for you! All he needs is a few photos in how you'd like to be depicted and in what kind of a setting you would like to be in. Just send him a private message. I do have Jim's authorization to tell you this.

Sincerely!

Bob

This is just information for you or anyone and Not a solicitation!
I like it. Looks straight out of a museum's art gallery...or someone you'd see in A Song of Ice and Fire (fantasy novel series).
Here's an old thread with a water color painting of me by my cousin
JimConahan.com in relation to someone doing a painting of a Walloon sword or anyone interested in having themselves depicted in a medieval painting.
Bob
Really cool painting! Definitely something to put over the mantle with crossed swords over it. :-)
I think that'd work really well in a modern manual on how to kick arse!
Nice one. But one question remains, does he take commisions?
'Cause I wish I had the money to get one!
