IDK what this is It has a straight double edged blade and a crested helmet makers marK.

That looks to me like a practice sabre from the late 19th century. And by the way you described the maker's mark, it sounds German, maybe WKC from Solingen? I'm not an expert, so I'm not positive. More detailed photos would help, especially of the maker's mark.

The mark is of Weyersberg Kirschbaum and the earliest date would be about 1814. I am a little leary of this blade but it may be a gymnasium sword of a remounted parts sword more likely.

Schlager/Mensur saber. This is the sort of sword used to inflict those facial scars so beloved by Germans of the 1800s-early 1900s.
