Here's another project brewing. Do any of you have photos of swords (usually German) with globular pommels of the early 16th c.? I want to find the design parameters for this type, so I'm interested in everything from plain to elaborately filed. The examples below show what I'm looking for.
If you have a photo of a pommel in this family please post it here! Attachment: 28.21 KB
Beatiful sword, but, yes, that's the pear shape that appears to have been the most common on longswords of this period. The globular/pumpkin-shaped ones are very common in artwork but I don't see many surviving examples. I know of one example in artwork that appears to be perfectly round and smooth but that seems to be rare.-Sean
