Presenting the Arbiter Longsword

Here is a piece I finished recently. This one is already sold, however I have several more sets of parts made up.

* Blade Steel: 5160

Hand forged. Sold without a scabbard though one can be made to order for extra cost. $535.00 + shipping

Minnesota? I think you should have named it Ice Fang or something. Vicious looking sword with those points on the crossguard. I sure wouldn't want to be on an elevator with the guy wearing that sword! :D As a Minnesota expatriate I feel free to make a few jokes about my old stomping grounds.

Yes I also tend to like wheel pommels but certainly don't dislike the other types of pommels.

Really like the blade and the aggressive pointy guard: It might even be worth it to make the guard out of hardenable steel and selectively heat treat just the ends to 45 r.c. with the rest of it softer but still a touch harder than mild steel i.e. not hard enough to make the guard likely to break, a little more durable but mostly with the pointy ends less damage prone if used aggressively against armour. ( Mostly finding gaps in armour but one might miss and mess up a too soft point ).

Just a design idea but not really criticism of the excellent work. ;) :D :cool:

You know I REALLY like that idea...and combine it with a tearbrop pommel like on the Albion doge...only pointier with a hardened tip...

I love the aggressive taper of the blade tied to the overall "feel" of the weapon. Well done Ben! We are very fortunate to blessed with so many talented weapon smiths in the upper Mid-west.

That is a very interesting idea Jean, I might have to play around with that idea. I could use 1050 or 4140.

I'll post a few more swords that I've finished recently that are of the same blade style, but with wheel pommels.
I must admit that in general I too prefer wheel pommels, but this particular hexagonal scent-stopper really appealed to me for some reason.
I actually made myself one.

Watch for the "Vindicator" and "Windblade" longswords, I'll get them up in the next day or two.
