Hello,

I finished this messer to my friend SaŽar.
The messer is from spring steel and it is hardened cca 54Hrc.
Length of blade - 65cm
Length of handle - 18.5cm
Length of cross quard - 18cm
Weight - 900g
The handle is from horn.
The messer is sharp.

It looks great. Certainly is a sturdy messer!
Mac, Your work just keeps getting better and better!

And great to see you're doing sharps now ... maybe I need to get one to go with the Schaller you made. :)
I recieved the messer posted here. I ordered it after I had seen a past thread by Stanislav regarding a sparring messer pair he have made. I liked the overall pattern.
Working with Stanislav was a pleasure - very responsive, quick to answer, nothing was too hard. He send photos during progress and timetable was ok (pretty fast though). A true man of his word.
Now for the small details: there are some small decorations and brass spacers, nice touch. I asked for horn grips instead of the plain wood ones - no problem, got a fine grain total black buaffalo horn scales. Asked for left-handed version, meaning placing the nagel to the left. 54 Rk-c hardness. Sharp edge - scary sharp! The false edge is sharp, too. The weight is 900 grams = exactly 2 pounds, POB is amazingly at 3", yet the POP is 4" from the point, due to its distal taper, blade shape (this is also the widest part) and adge geometry. This messer feels very lite and extremely fast. Now, although basically a single-hand weapon, the grip is long enough to accomodate a pommel grip for two handed strokes at need.
In all, I give Stanislav a big thumb up :D
Once I do some cutting I will post more.
Hi Sa'ar,

Thanks for posting the update, and your impressions ... that's convinced me that I need to talk with Stan! :)

Please do post more - it would be good to hear about how it handles and cuts.

Cheers,
Mark T
Recent newsflash: the messer came back with its new scabbard. It handles very well, very fast weapon. I didn't try to cut anything yet, but I will eventually, and post about it.
