Bloomery steel
Hello All,
So...I have this chunk of bloomery steel I made and need a project to complete part 2 of the video series.

Part one is below:
http://www.doorcountyforgeworks.com/Steel_Making.html

It will yield a knife sized blade not a sword.

Here are some photos from where the video lets off...and part two will begin.
Half the bloom went to the student.

What do you suggest it become?

Ric

You could prob get a small yataghan or some sort of persian blade. On the other end of the spectrum you could use it as an outside wrap on a viking sword. Sorry, that is just where my head wonders with bloom steel.
I would give my right arm for a workshop like that! or maybe not coz then I could not use any of it!! Spectacular metalworking facility!

Cheers Mike
A Norse utlity knife would make a good project for that piece.

go viking!!

I love the photo with your twisting machine framing the left hand side , there be industry in that shot.
I'm into early Iron Age lately... go for a Crannog sword's companion.
