This is a photo of a scabbard from the "Photos from "The Sword - Uses, Myths and Symbols" in Paris " thread. What kind of stitch is this on the lower edge of the scabbard??? I never seen one like this before.

Saddle stitch.

I took a few pictures of that as well. I'll see if I have a different view tomorrow night. No free time til then.

I tend to stick to the XXX stitch, myself. Easy to fix if need be.

I have a slightly different angle on that seamline. It is definitely saddle stitched and the parchment has drawn away from the thread significantly. It must have been sewn while the parchment was damp and flexible.

"X" stitching is seen on some existing scabbards. Just not on this one.
