Hey everyone.
I've been enjoying the site for a couple of years but have just joined up with the forums.
I'm trying to research mid 12th century weapons and have come up with question I hope you answer. It's been stated that falchions were in use from the 11th century onwards but the only examples I've been able to find are from the 13th century onwards. I realise there are precious few surviving falchions, most likely due to the various uses they could be put to in peace time as well as war meaning they were used to destruction, but I can't seem to find any manuscript sources that can back date their usage.
Does anyone know of such manuscripts from, say, the crusades era?
'The blade isn't the only part of a sword.'
He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Luke 22:36
