Hand-sax in the style of the Carolingian Era. The 8-7/8 inch 5160 spring steel blade is selectively hardened and hand-engraved with three snake figures in an incised border. The blade is flat-ground to a 'rolled' edge and is extremely sharp. Hilt furniture is of brass and is engraved with an attractive period geometric design. The furniture (shoulder-band and butt-cap) are fabricated from 11 gauge bress sheet and hard soldered for durability. The handle is tiger-striped Mesquite wood with a beautifull and unusual pattern. Provided at this time with a plain single-seam leather scabbard, but a traditional-style scabbard with brass mounts is available at an extra cost.
