'Serpent in the steel' pattern-weld
Does anyone have any pictures of an archaeological example of the 'serpent in the steel' pattern? Here are modern examples by Jim Hrisoulas:

If you could also give me a source for your pictures, that would be great. I'd like to use them as reference photos in my paper The Mysticism of the Sword in Germanic Myth.

Thanks for your help!

Maybe this one from Finnland? I found it in the "Swords of the Viking Age" by Ian Pierce.

Thank you Luca! That's exactly what I needed! I need to get a copy of this book.

Thanks again!

Or as cheap as $25 there, too.
Also, if anyone is still interested, Jeff Pringle sent me this link to a picture-rich discussion on Don Fogg's Bladesmiths' Forum about the very subject at hand, with numerous comments from him and Jim Hrisoulas, two very important pattern-welders:

Sorry, in my excitement I didn't scroll down far enough to see the other pricing.
$25 is a very good price!
