Crossbow Draw Weight
Gentlman I have recently bought a Medieval Reproduction War Crossbow. Can anyone tell me how i can define the draw weight of said crossbow?. With thanks. M.J.Easom
The easist way to measure the draw weight would be to get a tension scale and use it to pull the string to the lock and have a friend read off the weight. but that requires a strong scale.
I want to say that there is a way to measure the weight using a standard floor scale. Basically put the butt of the crossbow on the scale and pull the string down. read the measurement when the string is at the lock (but obviously not in the lock). If I am pulling down with X force the ground should be pushing back with X force, basic physics, correct? I guess it depends on how exact you want your measurements to be.
If your asked the bow or prod maker they might know as well.

But at least getting the draw length is an easy measurement on a crossbow as its just from the back of the bow to the lock.
