From MRL's "New" page. One of a series of new fencing weapons. I don't know what's more interesting--the sword or the fact that MRL is selling Hanwei....

"Hanwei's Practical Fencing Longsword, or Federschwert, is based on classical training pieces used in Renaissance Europe. This uniquely styled sword is featured in many period fencing manuals and is rapidly gaining popularity with modern practitioners of European martial arts. Designed in conjunction with the OCHS historic fencing organization in Germany, this Federschwert optimizes all of the balance and flexibility characteristics required for serious pursuit of this historic art. The safe sparring design features a forged high carbon steel blade with a rubber tip. Ships Separately, No Express Shipping available on this item. Web Only.

* Overall: 511/2"
* Blade: 37"
* Handle: 13-1/2"
* Wt: 3 lbs

$139

MRL has had Chen (Hanwei) katanas in their catalogue a long time and I've seen other Hanwei items in the Atlanta Cutlery (MRL's parent company) catalogue over the years.

Ahhh...that's what I get for skipping the katana portion of the catalog. Blush

This is the updated version of the one I reviewed here:
http://www.myArmoury.com/review_casi_feder.html

The new version handles very similarly to the older version, but the major improvement is that the flex is more isolated on the foible, while the forte is very stiff, and that makes for a much better tool. I did a video supplement to my original review here:

And I even PROOFED that piece Sad I guess I got hung up on the fact that this was in the "New" section at MRL.
